SSG Nathaniel Brown, Vietnam Veteran, Native of Charlotte, North Carolina.
Staff Sergeant Nathaniel Brown was a casualty of the Vietnam War. As a member of the Army, SSG Brown served our country until October 31st, 1966 in South Vietnam. He was 27 years old and was not married. It was reported that Nathaniel died from weapons malfunction. His body was recovered. SSG Brown is on panel 11E, line 132 of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington D.C. He served our country for 8 years.
He was the son of Mrs Edith Brown and Mr Preston W Brown, 438 Fairwood Avenue, Charlotte, NC. Nathaniel was a graduate of West Charlotte High School, Charlotte, NC.
He served with Alpha Company, 2nd Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment,"The Rock", 173rd Airborne Brigade, USARV.
He was awarded The Bronze Star Medal, The Combat Infantryman's Badge(CIB), The Purple Heart Medal for his combat related wounds, The Vietnam Service Medal, The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Service Medal, The National Defense Service Medal and Twice awarded The Good Conduct Medal(s).
