.Mary Moorman Isle of Wight, England died 3-28-1902 Orleans Township, Ionia Co. MI. Her parents were William D. Moorman & Elizabeth Granger. She was baptized in Calbourne, Isle of Wight, England on 8-11-1811. On 9-10-1829 she married Robert D. Howe (10-13-1799 New Hampshire 11-29-1870 Orleans, Ionia Co, MI) in Scio, New York. They came across Lake Erie on a barge. The water was very rough. The barge next to them capsized spilling furniture and trunks into the water. Most likely they came when her parents came in 1830. In 1846 they moved to a farm in Orleans Co. Mary taught school for several years. They moved to Orleans, Ionia Co., MI. before 1838. Her mother, Elizabeth, and her younger sister, Sarah lived with them.
