Charles H. Teuscher, 89, 265 Fillmore Avenue, a prominent long-time educator and retired Pocatello High School principal, died Tuesday afternoon at his home following an illness.
He was born June 12, 1898 at Geneva, Idaho, to Charles and Caroline Jensen Teuscher. He attended school in Paris, graduating from the Fielding Academy. He graduated from Brigham Young University with a master's degree in education.
He married Mona Crockett June 12, 1928 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She preceded him in death in February 1936.
He married Lois Stuart on Dec 24, 1938 at Montpelier. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple Sep 5, 1946.
Mr. Teuscher had taught school for 45 years and served as principal of Pocatello High School. He had also served as Arco superintendent of schools and Ririe High School principal, and had taught school in Montpelier.
He was an active member of the LDS Church, serving an LDS mission to the northern states from May 1919 to July 1921. He had served as superintendent of Sunday school, taught gospel doctrine classes, was high priest's group leader and high priest's teacher. He was a Boy Scout leadler for many years and had been honored a number of times by the Boy Scouts of America. He enjoyed reading, gardening, carpentry and traveling.
He is survived by his wife of Pocatello; a daughter, Lyn Hofhine, Salt Lake City, a son Stuart C. Teuscher, San Diego, CA; nine grandchildren, six brothers, Eugene Joseph, Louis Robert, Sidney J. and Vern J. Teuscher, all of Montpelier, Alvin Christian Teuscher, Raymond, Idaho, and Woodruff Jensen Teuscher, Twin Falls, and four sisters, Vyola Carrie Eschler, Logan, UT, Luella Lily Bigler, Kemmerer, WY, Mabel Lena Castleton and Verda Zell Homer, both of Montpelier. He was preceded in death by a brother in 1986.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in the Pocatello LDS 13th Ward Chapel, corner of Jefferson and Walnut, with Bishop Fred L. Meese officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 11:30 a.m. until service time on Saturday. Burial will be in the Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
