"A legacy of Gordy"
He was born in Banning, Ontario and lived as a small child in Kashabowie and Emo, Ontario. At an early age in life, he and his brothers Art and Joe ventured to Port Arthur, taking up residence in Jumbo Gardens. He started his working career at S.J. Hills and Sons. Before too long he bought his first truck by getting a loan from his aunt, Mrs. Hill. Hauling pulp in the winter and sand and gravel in the summer. Like his ambitious father he invested in property. The people of his era were very hard working. In 1940 he and my mother moved to Fort William and got into the cartage business. He favorite past time was investing in penny ante stocks and trying to find gold mines. He had curled at the Fort William Curling Club in earlier years and traveled extensively. His weekends, years ago, were spent at his camp at Anderson Lake with his friends, relatives and grandchildren. He was a thrifty mentor and contractor, being very generous to many relatives and helping need people. He will be remembered as a kind and gentle soul and will never be forgotten, for he was a nurse to my mother for the last few years. May you rest in peace Dad, and you have definitely earned it because of your caring ways. "Love-Lorne"
"A word of thanks"
To Dr. Debakker, Dr. House and the many other doctors for taking such good care of my father. To the nurses of the emergency and 1 "A" staff, thank you ever so much. Also he Thunder Bay Regional Hospital Staff and Dr. Dodick for looking after both my parents during their illnesses. Your care and compassion will never be forgotten.
