John V. Armonia served in United States Marine Corps Photographic Squadron VMD-154 during World War II. This aerial reconnaissance squadron was stationed at Camp Elrod on Espiritu Santo Island, New Hebrides (now Vanuatu) in the South Pacific. Within the squadron, John worked in the Photo Lab as motion picture producer, motion picture printer, cameraman, editor, negative film processor, and positive film processor.
Following WWII, John used the GI bill to finish school and became project engineer for the Navy in the field of Photographic Research and Development Department in Washington, D.C. He made many films and worked on "Men of Anapolis"; "Five Days in November", a documentary on the Kennedy assassination; and he worked on the Tony Curtis film, "The Pink Submarine". John's television experience included working with all major newscasters.
John Armonia's last known residence was Rancho Murieta, CA; however, his final resting place is unknown at this time. His wife, Patricia, passed away on 3 April 2004.
