Graveside service: 2 p.m. Saturday in Greenwood Memorial Park.
Visitation: 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at Greenwood Funeral Home.
Mabel Davis Anderson was born Aug. 17, 1908, on her family's ranch in Vera. Shortly after, she moved with her family to Seymour, later moving to Dido in 1918 in Tarrant County and then to Fort Worth. She attended Peter Smith Elementary School, to which she would return later to teach. Mrs. Anderson attended Central High (now Paschal).
She earned her BA degree at Texas Women's College (now Texas Wesleyan) and her master's degree from Texas Christian University.
Her teaching career started in 1929 and continued until her retirement in 1973, when she was at Lilly B. Clayton. In her 20 years of teaching at Peter Smith, she had a perfect record of attendance - neither absent nor tardy. In recognition of this, the school had all the pupils wear the letter "A" for a whole day and there was a celebration party given by her peers and attended by PTA members and a board member.
She was a longtime member of Polytechnic United Methodist Church and a member of the Covenant Class, the United Methodist Women and was active in other church activities. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Society, Fort Worth Retired School Employees Association, TCU Exes, Women of TWC and Harris Auxiliary and was a supporter of Texas A&M Alumnus. She and her husband, C.G. Anderson, were active in the Shriners.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Gilbert Anderson; her parents, Julia and C. C. Davis; sisters, Juliana Fowler and Geneva Howell; and a brother, Chancy Carl Davis Jr.
