|Death: ||Jul. 4, 1863|
The headstone at this burial site is marked "ORDERLY SERGT. REGT. 116."
The 116th New York Volunteer Infantry Regiment was not at Gettysburg.
This is probably Francis Malin, who served as 1st Sergeant of Company C of the 116th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry Regiment in the American Civil War.
He was wounded in the head at the Stony Hill on July 2, 1863, the second day of the Battle of Gettysburg. He died on July 4 at the 1st Division, II Corps hospital.
He was mustered in to the regiment on August 13, 1862 as a 1st Sergeant.
The cemetery burial location (among those killed on July 2 in the vicinity of Rose's Woods) indicates that Sergeant Malin was killed outright, rather than mortally wounded, although this is not certain.
