Benjamin was 18 and a brick layer, living with brother Commodore Perry Curry when the 1860 Federal Census was taken. Commodore Perry was unmarried at that time, but married prior to 1870 census and had 3 children by 1870. Benjamin died (presumably in battle) March 1865. His grave is marked with a Military marker. Co K, 14 IL INF

He has 2 headstones: 1 Benjamin Merriss and 1 Benjamin Curry. I would bet that his middle name was Merriss (named after his mother's maiden name) and that when headstones were made (military markers) they made a mistake and made 2 of them.
