Ellen was the 3rd born child and 2nd daughter of Alexander Elliott & Susanna (Wood) Bolin and was born 4 1/2 miles S.W. of Huntingburg, Dubois Co.,Indiana. She married James Calvin Marshall on 9 Jan.,1860 in Dubois Co.,In. and they were the parents of 7 children, 4 boys and 3 girls: Benjamine Franklin b.7 Nov.,1861, James Alex b.14 Dec.,1863, Susannah b.6 Mar.,1866, Charles Marion b.6 Jul.,1868, Mary Roedel b.8 Jan.,1871 & d.13 Jan.,1871, Stella b.7 Mar.,1873, and Willis Henry b.9 Jun.,1875. James C. died in 1875 and the 1880 census lists 6 children and the youngest was listed as Willis H. Afrer the death of James, she married William Albert Cavins b.1853 d.1925, in 1881 and they had at least 1 son, Clearence Calvin Cavins b.1882 d.1947.
