Birth: Sep. 18, 1819, England
Death: Apr. 29, 1890
Portage County
Wisconsin, USA

Charlotte was my husband's 2nd Great-Grandmother.

She came to America in 1854 with her husband John Fletcher and was one of the early settlers of Portage Co., Wisconsin. Daughter of Charles Humphrey and Mary Wilkins.

Married John Fletcher in 1841 in England.

Children: Arthur, Mary Ann, Frank, Caroline, Charles R., George and Herman Fletcher.

It becomes our sorrowful duty to mention the death of our kind and beloved neighbor, Mrs. John Fletcher, which occured Tuesday, April 29, at half past four o'clock, of rheumatism of the heart.

Charlotte Humphries was born September 18, 1819 at Bourtea on-the-water, Glostershire, Eng., where she passed her childhood days. She was married in the spring of 1841, to Mr. John Fletcher.

In 1854 they set out to find a home in America, came to Oshkosh, Wis. They lived there two years, when they removed to this town, where they have ever since resided. They have worked hard to secure homes for themselves and children, and always had the merited respect of the entire community.

The deceased leaves a loving husband, five sons, Arthur Fletcher, who resides in Badger, Frank, Charles, George, and Herman, and one daughter, Mrs. Gilbert Puariea, a grandson Lewis Wentworth, all of this place. Also three sisters, Mrs. Jerome Adams, Buena Vista, Mrs. John Doswell, and Mrs. Elizabeth Handson, of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, who deeply mourn their loss.

She was a member of the Liberty Corners M.E. church, where the funeral services were held, at half past 10 o'clock Thursday. Rev. Sanborn preached the funeral sermon to a large concourse of friends and the mortal remains of a respected, Christian woman were laid to rest in the Buena Vista cemetery, to await the resurrection of the just.
