Augustyn was my husband's 2nd Great-Granduncle.

He was the son of Andreas "Andrew" KLUCZYKOWSKI (1797-1879) and and Anna Marianna REICHTER Kluczykowski (1798-1862).

He married Maryanna ESKER in Jul 1865, in Milwaukee, WI.

86 Grandchildren Survive Sharon Man

August Kluck, Sr., Civil War Veteran, Leaves Long List of Living Descendants.

August Kluck, Sr., Civil war veteran, the father of 14 sons and daughters and whose living descendants number 86 grandchildren and six great grandchildren, succumbed to the infirmities of age at his farm home in the town of Sharon at 9 o'clock Tuesday morning.

Mr. Kluck was born in Poland 83 years ago. While yet in his teens he emigrated to Canada, later coming to Milwaukee for a stay of four years, and then moving to Portage county. Shorly after the breaking out of the Civil war he volunteered for service and remained until the close of hostilities.

Surviving members of his family are the widow and the following children: Nick of Milwaukee, Frank, August and Leo of Sharon, Joseph of Galloway, Mrs. John Printz of Sharon, Mrs. John Wauseski, Mrs. Albert Sobecki and Mrs. Joseph Graykowski of Manitowoc, Mrs. Frank Somers of Plover, Mrs. Stanley Graykowski of Wausau, Mrs. Victor Pekowski of Milwaukee. Another son, Alex died in Sharon last year. With one exception, each of the children has a large family, one of them being the parent of 14 and several having as many as 10 children.

Funeral services for the deceased will be held at Sacred Heart church, Polonia, at 9 o'clock Friday morning with interment in the parish cemetery.

August Kluck Sr. and the Civil War

Shorly after the breaking out of the Civil War, August volunteered for service and remained until the close of hostilities. He was a member of the Wisconsin 45th Regiment Infantry, Company "I" during the Civil War at the age of 24. Organized at Madison, Wis., November 8, 1864. Companies as organized ordered to Nashville, Tenn. Attached to Post of Nashville, Tenn., Dept. of the Cumberland, to February, 1865. 2nd Brigade, 4th Division, 20th Army Corps, Dept. of the Cumberland, to March, 1865. Post of Nashville, Dept. of the Cumberland, to July, 1865.

SERVICE.--Garrison and guard duty at Nashville until July, 1865. Battle of Nashville December 15-16. Mustered out July 17, 1865. Lost during service 34 by disease.
