Emily was my husband's Great-Great Aunt.

She was the 5th of 8 children born to Jacob Gibson and Sarah Maria "Sally" Bennett Wanty.

She was married George Fletcher, Sr. on 4 Jul 1881, in Amherst, Portage, Wisconsin, USA.

Their children were:

Eugene Alfred, Hattie Ireny, John D. "Don", Clair, Mildred Maria Fletcher Dakins, Ward Wanty, George Clayton, Jr, Earl Howard, and Ruth Emily Fletcher Gilman.

Mrs. Emily Jane Fletcher

Mrs. Emily Jane Fletcher, a resident of the town of Buena Vista for many years, died Friday afternoon at 4:15 o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Dakins, in Buena Vista. She had been in ill health for several years and was confined to bed for the past eight weeks.

Mrs. Fletcher was born on Jan. 12, 1859, in Winnebago County, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Wanty. She resided at the home of her parents until her marriage to George Fletcher which took place on July 4, 1881, at Amherst by Rev. Mr. Stevens. After their marriage they located on a farm in Buena Vista which they purchased at that time and where a son, Earl, now resides. Mr. Fletcher died on Jan. 13, 1926.

Surviving are eight children, Eugene Fletcher, John Fletcher, known as Don, Claire Fletcher, Mrs. John (Mildred) Dakins, Ward Fletcher, George Fletcher, Jr., Earl Fletcher and Mrs. Carroll (Ruth) Gilman, all of Buena Vista; a brother, Jacob Wanty of Wausau; a sister, Mrs. Irwin Newby of Madison, 47 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A daughter, Irene, died in infancy.

Funeral services were held at the Dakins home, followed by services at the M.E. Church at Liberty Corners. Burial took place in the Liberty Corners Cemetery.

Funeral services for Mrs. Emily Jane Fletcher, wife of the late George Fletcher, who died Friday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Dakins, in the town of Buena Vista, were held Sunday afternoon. A prayer was offered at the Dakins home at 1:15 o'clock, followed by services at 2 o'clock at M.E. church at Liberty Corners. Rev. Herman Thomas officiated and burial took place in the parish cemetery.

The pallbearers, sons of Mrs. Fletcher, were Eugene, Don, Claire, George, Ward, and Earl Fletcher.

The flowers were carried by Hazel, Myrna, Eileen, and Edith Fletcher and Eleanor Dakins.

Among th large number of relatives and friends who filled the church for the services, those from away included Mrs. Irvin Newby of Madison; Mrs. Nelson Wanty and sons Lynn and Earl Wanty and Mrs. Clarence Wanty of Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. George Wilson of Waupauca; Mr. and Mrs. Otto Scheider of Clintonville; Harry Fletcher and family and Mrs. Thomas Lee of Wausau and Mr. and Mrs. William Smith of Sheridan.
