The obituary for Ada Sophia (Skene) KING follows. It was printed in a North Dakota newspaper but I do not know the name of the paper or the date published. The article is in a family scrapbook and I have recorded it as published. Mrs. King was a resident of Hannah, Cavalier County, North Dakota at the time of her death on April 24, 1955.


Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon of last week at the I.O.O.F. hall in Hannah for Mrs. T.J. King, pioneer resident of Hannah, who died Sunday, April 24, 1955 at a Crystal City, Man. hospital.

Rev. Robert Boxrud of Sarles officated at the services. Pallbearers were G.B. Tollefson, R.D. McLean, P.W. Moffatt, G.D. Dickson, L.L. Miller and W.A. Nickerson. Interment was made in the Hannah cemetery.

Special music during the services included "Have Thine Own Way Lord" and "The Old Rugged Cross" sung by a quartette composed of Mrs. A.E. Prior, Mrs.W. Fairbanks, W.E. Treleaven and E.W. Treleaven, and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" sung by Mrs. Fairbanks.

Mrs. King was born Ada Sophia Skene December 10, 1873 at Guelph, Ont.,the eighth child of James Harvey Skene and Eliza Vickers Skene. She came with her parents to Dakota Territory when a child.

She was married to Thomas J. King May 27, 1893 and they made their home on a farm six miles west of Hannah until 1908 when they moved into Hannah where they have made their home since. She was affiliated with the Presbyterian
Church and was a charter member of the Rebekah Lodge.

Surviving besides Mr. King are two sons, Willis of Hannah and Henry of St. Paul, and two daughters, May, who is Mrs. Morgan of Los Angeles, Calif. and LaMoine who is Mrs. Wilford Ausbrook of Peoria, Ill., 8 grandchildren
and 5 great-grandchildren.
