BURTON L. BROMLEY
Burton L. Bromley, longtime resident of Mechanic Street, North Bennington, and a 54 year employee of the former H.T. Cushman Manufacturing Co. in North Bennington, died at the age of 93 Friday morning at Putnam Memorial Hospital, Bennington, after a long illness.
He was born in Ballston Spa, N.Y., Jan 12, 1882 to Cornelius and Matie (Derbie) Bromley, and he and his widow, the former Bessie Bowen of East Dorset, were married for more than 70 years. They lived most of their married life on Mechanic Street in North Bennington, where Mr. Bromley doted on neighborhood children and was beloved by all. His home is an example of splendid carpentry, and Mr. Bromley did the lattice work himself. He retired from the Cushman Co. in 1957, but continued doing carpentry work, and raised hens and rooster on his property until the early 1960s. He was a longtime member of the Congregational Church in North Bennington.
Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Priscilla Norton of North Bennington, three grandchildren, Carol Disque, Burton Worthington and Norton Kennedy; and five great grandchildren. Another daughter, Pauline Worthington, died in 1962.
Friends may pay respects at the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home Monday from 3 to 4 pm, after which a memorial service will be held.
Burial will be in North Bennington at the convenience of the family.
