Robert was born in Vallejo before the family
moved to Winthrop.
Arriving in Vietnam 26 July 1967 Robert was
assigned to Communication Section of H & S
Company,3rd Battalion,26th Marine Regiment,
1st Marine Division.
Robert died as a result of multiple injuries to
his head and body when he was a passenger
aboard a helicopter that was involved in a
mid-air collision with the gunship escort.The
helicopters were on their way to Dong Ha,
from a medical evacuation,due to Operation
Pegasus and crashed into the ground 2 kilo-
meters southeast of Cam Lo.
Funeral arrangements conducted by the Alfred
S Marsh Funeral Home and funeral services
held at the St John Episcopal Church.
The family requested that in lieu of flowers,
that contributions be made in his name to the
Dollar for Scholars,c/o Winthrop High School.
Survived by his parents,Harold W & Medelon L
Belcher,his two sisters;Kathleen and Beverly
Joy and his grandmother;Anne C Clatur all of
291 Winthrop St,Winthrop,MA.
