GEORGE WASHINGTON "G.W." FREEHAFER was one of twelve known children born to Jonathan and Mary Ann Cramer Freehafer of Worthington Township, Richland County, Ohio.

The 1870 Federal Census lists George W., age 22, as living with his parents and doing farm labor.

On February 13, 1875. George W. Freehafer and Mary Elizabeth Cates were united in marriage in Richland County, Ohio. George and Mary were the parents of two sons, Harvey Delven Freehafer who married Charlotte B. Ackerman and Jennie L. Weill of Mansfield, Ohio, and son Homer Leroy Freehafer of Denver, Colorado.

George W. died on 5 October of 1881, he had contracted typhoid fever and his body was found in the Clearfork River near the head gate of the Fildes Woolen Mill. George's death was ruled a suicide. He was buried at the Four Corners (Zion) Cemetery, near Butler, Worthington Township, Richland County, Ohio. May he rest in peace.

GEORGE FREEHAFER - On Thursday of last week the body of Geo Freehafer was found in the Clear Fork at the head gate near the Fildes Woolen Mill. The deceased was a resident of Worthington Township and committed suicide by drowning. He leaves a wife and two children.
