A 28-year-old New Britain man was killed Saturday morning when his vehicle ran off Tariffville Road and overturned in a brook, police said.
Vincent Shorter was taken to Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Hartford, where he was pronounced dead at 8:44 a.m., police said.
Officers responding at about 6:47 a.m. found an Infiniti sedan on its roof, partially submerged in a stream off the road, and found the lone victim in a pond about 35 feet downstream, police said.
The accident happened on Tariffville Road south of Hoskins Road, police said.
An accident reconstruction team was still on the scene just before 10 a.m. Saturday morning and a section of the road was closed.

Vincent Edward Shorter, 28, of New Britain, passed away Saturday (April 13, 2013) at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford from injuries received in an auto accident. Born in Farmington, son of Moses J. Shorter of Tampa, FL and Novella Crockett of New Britain, Vincent was a lifelong New Britain resident. He was employed at Red Robin in West Hartford.

Besides his parents Moses and Novella, he leaves his maternal great grandfather, Charles H. Crockett of New Britain; his maternal grandmother, Alfannie Kennedy of South Carolina; his paternal grandmother, Annie Shorter of Alabama; his two sons, Hasan and Caron Shorter of New Britain; two daughters, Symphony Crockett of New Britain and Saniya Shorter of Meriden; a step son, Jonathan Crockett of New Britain; his devoted girl friend, Brenda Cruzado of New Britain; a sister, Krystal Crockett of New Britain; and two nieces, Mya Lindsey of New Britain and Lyric Shorter of Tampa, FL.

Funeral services will be held Friday 11 AM at St. James Missionary Baptist Church, 45 Daly Avenue, New Britain, CT 06051. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Calling hours are Friday morning from 10 AM until the time of the service at St. James Missionary Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. James Missionary Baptist Church. The Carlson Funeral Home, New Britain is assisting the family with arrangements.
