"Carl F. Bishop 1918 ~ 2006 Joyful reunion Carl Franklin Bishop passed away of natural causes April 21, 2006. He was born August 24, 1918 to Clarence Dell and Arley Carroll Bishop in Pleasanton, Kansas. Married Norma Eva Sorensen December 31, 1943 in Bingham Canyon, Utah. Carl joined the home guard and served with the 914th Artillery Battalion assigned to the 89th Infantry Division in Germany during the cleanup operation after the Battle of the Bulge, World War II. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He worked as a brakeman and locomotive engineer for 34 years at Kennecott Copper and enjoyed his retirement for 25 years. Carl enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and gardening. He was very mechanical and could fix or build anything. He left a legacy of hard work, thrift, integrity, and devotion to family. Survived by daughters, JoAnn (Jerry) Clayton, Sandy; Holly (Evan) Hanson, Midvale; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by wife, Norma; daughters, Carlene Bishop and Marilyn Lay; grandson, Layne Clayton; three brothers, Jesse, Eddie, and Willie. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 25, 2006, 12 noon at Belview Ward, 300 East 6300 South, Murray, Utah where family and friends may call from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Internment, Murray City Cemetery. Directors, Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary. The family expresses appreciation to the staff of Crosslands Care Center, particularly Glen, for their kind and considerate care of Dad these last three months.
