Obituary from the Toledo Blade newspaper: DEATH OF W.O. BROWN, SR. / Was a Pioneer and Prominent in Business Circles / W.O. Brown, Sr., one of the early settlers of this city, died at the home of his son, Walter Brown, in Elkhart, Ind., at 5 o'clock last evening. Mr. Brown was born at Staten Island, N. Y., March 5, 1823, and his death, which was as the result of the infirmities of old age, occurred on the anniversary of his 78th birthday.

He came to Toledo in 1846,and until recently, has been a resident of this city. Mr. Brown was, for a time, connected with C. A. King in the grain business, and also operated a large pork packing establishment.

His slaughter house, one of the largest of that time, was situated near where the Cherry Street bridge ends on the East Side. He was interested in a number of vessels on the lakes, and, in 1848, started in the ship chandler business, which he afterwards sold to M. I. Wilcox.

He was also one of the original members of the old Board of Trade, which afterwards became the present Produce Exchange.

Three children, W. O. Brown, Jr., of Toledo, Walter, of Elkhart, Ind., and Mrs. Frank Klotz, of Chicago, survive Mr. Brown.

The funeral will be held from Trinity church to-morrow afternoon at 2:30 o'clock.
