Age 84, died Wednesday in Pinehurst; born in Goldsboro to Thomas J Lawson and Gladys Burnette Wilson Lawson; attended Catholic University of America; ordained a Catholic priest for the Diocese of Raleigh February 2, 1962; actively served as a priest of the Raleigh Diocese for 46 years, even after his retirement in 1999; served as coordinator of Our Lady of the Hills Camp in Hendersonville during his priestly life, along with numerous other noteworthy positions; a fourth degree Knight of Columbus in NC; member of Lion's Club International, serving as District J Governor in NC.

Survived by sisters Marie Lawson (Sam Jr) Jernigan and Dolores Lawson (Jack) Harris, brothers John Walter Lawson, Father Joseph Douglas Lawson, and Mark Edward Lawson, and a host of nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions should be directed to Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, P.O. Box 1768, Pinehurst, N.C. 28370.
