Donald Gregory Lux was born in Austin, MN, February 21, 1924.
He left his childhood town of Claremont to join the Navy in 1943 where he served honorably in the Pacific Theater of World War II. He contributed to four beach invasions, including Okinawa, over his three years of service. After the war he remained in the Naval Reserves for 30 years retiring with the rank of Captain.
He earned his Masters at Stout State University and Ph.D. at The Ohio State University in 1954. Don was a Professor at University of Illinois for 11 years. He then became Professor and Chair of Industrial Technology and Education at The Ohio State University for 21 years. During the course of his professional career he was the major advisor for 45 doctoral students. He was also the co-author of "World of Construction? and "World of Manufacturing?, middle school textbooks still in classroom instruction today.
Don married his high school sweetheart, Harriet "Pete" Harmer, in 1945.
He passed on to the arms of his Lord on September 28th at the age of 82. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife; two sons, Michael of Albuquerque, NM, and Gregory of Springfield, MO; daughter, Kathleen of Columbus, OH; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one grandchild, Michael.
A funeral mass will be observed today, Sept. 30, at St. Elizabeth Church, Columbus, OH. Arrangements by Schoedinger Worthington Chapel, Worthington, OH.
