Rites Sunday

The funeral services for Sergeant Robert D. Ainsley, killed in action in France November 28, 1944, will be held at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the family home at Mount Braddock. Canon Bernard Newman, pastor of Trinity Church, New York, and a former pastor of St. Peter's Episcopal Church at Uniontown, of which "Bob" was a member, will officiate. Burial will be made in Sylvan Heights Cemetery, near Uniontown, under the direction of Funeral Director F. Todd Burhans of Dunbar. Military rites will be conducted at the grave by Hughes Post No. 146, American Legion, of Dunbar. Friends will be received after 7 o'clock this evening at the family home. Born in Mount Braddock August 30, 1924, the son of Mr. and Mrs. David Ainsley, he was graduated from North Union Township High School in 1943, enlisting and entering the service February 22, 1943, while a member of the senior class. He received his basic training at Fort Jackson, S.C., and Camp Campbell, Ky., and his ranger training at Camp Gordon, Ga. He embarked from Newark, N.J., landing in France on September 7, 1944, and was killed in the advance on Munster while serving with Company B, 328th Infantry Regiment of the 26th (the Yankee) Division. Besides his parents, Sergeant Ainsley is survived by the following brothers and sisters, Clyde D. of Mount Braddock; Earl of Lemont Furnace, Mrs. Donald Palmer of Uniontown, Mrs. F. Howard Moore of Connellsville, Mrs. Don Butler of Milton, Mrs. Williard C. Holland, Mrs. Mearhl E. Albert, Misses Ora Lee and Sally Ainsley and Ted Ainsley, all at home.
