Ervin Braun
A full military funeral was held for Ervin, age 24, on ? 28, 1948. He was killed in action February 14, 1944 and buried on foreign soil until he was brought home to Big Sandy where he was born and raised.
Ervin was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Braun and went to school at Inga, southwest of Big Sandy. He owned land in his own name and was a motor mechanic.
He was in combat in Africa, Tunis, Sicily and Italy. In 14 months he experienced the most dangerous military service. He knew the full meaning of mud, cold and hunger, going without food sometimes for 3 days in succession.
He gave his everything. Let's not forget these men!
