Comedian and Actor. Born in Council Bluffs, Iowa, Langdon was best known as a Vaudevillian and film comedian. He appeared in circuses and vaudeville shows nationwide until 1924, then joined the Hollywood throng and appeared in two-reel short films from 1924 to 1944 and starred in seven features. He received credit as an actor or director/writer in a dozen more full-length features. He was ranked with Buster Keaton, Charlie Chaplin, and Harold Lloyd during the silent comedy era. Just as Keaton was called "The Great Stone Face," and Chaplin "The Little Tramp," Langdon was "The Baby." He didn't come to movies until he was already a 40 year old veteran of vaudeville and he was a movie star only for a very brief time.
