Carl attended the University of Southern California School of Dentistry, Class of 1944. He married Dorothy Sessions on April 6, 1944 in Salt Lake City.
After graduating from dental school, he was immediately recruited by the United States Navy for dental wartime duty. His first assignment was on Coronado Island in San Diego.
Carl was never shipped out. After the war, Carl set up a dental practice in Santa Monica and Carl and Dorothy bought their first house in Mar Vista, where three of their four children lived until they built their final home of fifty years in Bel-Air.
Because of Carl's Naval reserve status, he was recruited for the Korean War right after moving into the family home in Bel-Air. He was stationed in San Diego and Long Beach. Carl was dismissed after about 8 months of service.
He and Clayton Prince, his dental school friend, opened up adjacent dental offices in Westwood Village, where he practiced dentistry until his retirement.
Carl passed away on Friday, August 20, 2004 at his home of natural causes. He resided at 1050 Acanto Place in the Bel-Air district of Los Angeles at the time of his death.
Following a funeral service, he was interred in the Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Glendale.
REST IN PEACE.
