A gr-gr-grandaughter in Ukiah CA once reported "the auxiliary society moved his body to Linwood about 1869.", but this is unconfirmed (Linwood Cem in Boone Co, IA). That auxiliary society was likely the Woman's Relief Corps that was part of the W C Crooks GAR Post 329 of Boone Co, IA. It was called the W. C. Crooks Corps, No. 18, WRC. A later history - the 1914 History of Boone County Vol 1 - it says he was buried upon the battlefield.
