THE MARCELINE NEWS, Marceline, Missouri, Friday, Feb. 5, 1937
Benjamin Millard Billups, 54 years old, a well-known farmer of the Westville community, ended his life Sunday by hanging himself at his home three miles southeast of Westville.
Funeral services, conducted by the Rev. Frank M. Wright, pastor of the First Christian Church here, were Tuesday afternoon at the McLaughlin Chapel. Burial was in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Mr. Billups had a host of friends over the community and the reason for his act has not yet been determined.
He was born Sept. 21, 1882. On Dec. 3, 1906 he was married to Miss Cora Allen. Eight children were born, all of who survive. They are Mrs. Robert Pippin of Whitham, Ralph Billups, Mrs. Roy Linebaugh, and Mrs. Lee Linebaugh, all of Marceline, Clarence, Wilbur, Ruby, and Alma Billups of the home near Westville.
Besides the widow and children he leaves five grandchildren, five brothers, and five sisters. Mr. Billups was a honest, hardworking farmer and his many friends were shocked to learn of his death.

Ben Billups, well-known farmer southwest of Westville, took his life Sunday by hanging. Deceased was a brother of Ned Billups of Salt Creek Township, brother of Mrs. Joe Edemann and father of Mrs. Robert Pippin.

MENDON CONSTITUTION, Mendon, Missouri, Thursday, Feb. 11, 1937
Benjamin M. Billups was born Sept. 21, 1882 and passed away from this life Jan. 31, 1937. On Dec. 3, 1906, he was united in marriage to Miss Cora Allen. To this union eight children were born- Mrs. Robert Pippin of Whitham, Ralph, Mrs. Roy Linebaugh and Mrs. Lee Linebaugh of Marceline, Wilbur, Clarence, Ruby, and Alma, all of the home near Westville.
Mr. Billups was an honest, diligent farmer, and his many friends are grieved at his untimely death.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Frank Wright in Marceline Tuesday and burial in Mt. Olivet.
