Ms. Emery was originally buried in the Cleveland County Home cemetery located at the fairgrounds. On April 26th, 1994, his resting place was moved to its current location.

I am striving to identify this lady and and the 58 souls who share her grave. If you have any information to share please contact me.

Update: I recently ran across a book from the old County Home in which Ms. Emery was listed. The book stated she entered the home in 1931; was a member of Bethpage Lutheran Church near Lincolnton, Lincoln County; and was buried "behind the fair ground". Perhaps with this additional information we can now find a family for Sarah.

Update 9/18/2008: Mrs. Emery had a death certificate on file with the Register of Deeds office in Cleveland County, NC. Her name has the alternate spelling "Emory". She was a widow who had lived in the Shelby area for 33 years. The informant told us Mrs. Emery was born in North Carolina but did not know the names of her parents. She died after a 7 or 8 year struggle with "Generalized myrosis fungides". Palmer-McPhaul Funeral Home handled the arrangement for her funeral which was held on 13 Jan 1962.
