Wife of
Daniel J. Milrick

Daniel and Jane had no children.

Jane went by the name of Jennie. I didn't know until very recently she was even married. Legally her name was her marriage name, but everyone always called her Jennie Gorman not Jane Milrick.

Jane married around the age of 40 and her husband died shortly afterwards. She was the widow of Daniel Milrick. I don't have much information on their union. They were married sometime around 1940, and she was a widow by 1943. As I find more information I will add or correct.

She was my great aunt and lived in the spookiest house I've ever been in. I was a kid and when we would visit the strange noises of a strange house really had me spooked. She was a sweet woman that chose to stay with her family to care for them all her life along with her sister Mame. She came to stay with us near the end of her life, there was no one left to care for her. My mom took in all her relatives that needed help. Jennie soon ended up in the hospital and later a nursing home, where she passed. The same hospital her sister Jessie and brother Richie would die in.

I remember Jennie, and it was so strange to not be able to find her anywhere in my searches. One census and there was no other mention of her, yet I remember her-very vividly. Oh my quest to find and visit my ancestor's graves I found Jennie's brother-Charles and her sister Mary Ellen(Mame). They were so very close in life, they lived well into their 80's in the same house. I couldn't believe my mom would let them bury her somewhere other than with her beloved brother and sister. When I found their grave, I also found one of their neices, and a Jane Milrick. Never heard that name before. I was searching for Jennie Gorman. Eight months later it came to me, I would like to think all my asking of the spirits came through and put the idea in my head that Jane and Jennie were the same person. Sure enough the more I tried to prove it, the more I couldn't disprove it. I have a wonderful genealogist helping me in Rhode Island and I told her my suspicions. Sure enough confirmation made. Jennie was Jane...named after her grandmother Mary Jane MacDonald and she was briefly married in the 1940's her husband Daniel passing away a short time after. That accounting for the name of Milrick. So Aunt Jennie...or Aunt Jane...I am finally done with most of my questions for you. I'll do what I can to find your husband Aunt Jennie, and add him so you will be together.

I have to admit, in 2005 I made a trip up to Rhode Island to visit my mom's roots. She was born in the spooky house I mentioned here, I remembered it to be something from a horror film. Old, dark, gray, and big. To my surprise it wasn't anything like what my young mind remembered. I'm sure my mom and aunt Jennie would be surprised at what a nice home it was, I just hope I didn't scare the owners now because I couldn't stop staring at the house that used to scare me half to death. They kept it up really nicely aunt Jennie.
