Birth: unknown
Death: Aug. 11, 1863

Pvt. Melvin was a member of Company I, 31st North Carolina Troops. He enlisted at Camp Whiting [NC] on February 13, 1863, for the war. Wounded at Fort Wagner, Charleston, South Carolina, July 18, 1863. Hosptilized at Charleston where he died of wounds. Date of death not reported.

His is among those listed by the Charleston Daily Courier newspaper as, John Melvin, one of the casualties from Battery Wagner on July 18, 1863. In the official service records there is no John Melvin, but Isaac Melvin' record is a match for the event.

He is recorded as buried in grave #255 on August 12, 1863. I would assume that he died possibly on August 11, 1863.
