Mr. James S. Manning, Sr., 79 died Tuesday morning (Feb. 3, 2004) at Waycross Health and Rehabilitation Center after an extended illness.

He is a native of Pierce County, but he has lived in the Waycross area all his life. He was a truck driver, and he also served during World War II in the United States Marine Corp.

He is the husband of the late Jewel Shuman Manning and was the son of the late Lewis Manning and Ethel Johnson.

He is survived by his son, James S. Manning, Jr. (wife Margaret) of Milton, FL; two granddaughters, Shaeron Hutcheson and Karon Blalack both of Milton, FL; five great grandchildren; a special aunt, Edna Johnson of Waycross; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday (Feb. 7, 2004) at the Music Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6 until 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
