Edith Pilon, at 87; retired saleswoman
Edith M. (Gonyea) Pilon, 87, of 28 Lamplighter Lane, Springfield, a retired saleswoman for 20 years in the men's department at Albert Steiger Co., died Monday in Mercy Hospital.
She had also worked for 15 years at the former Haynes & Co. Department Store in Springfield and retired in 1968.
Born in Standish, N.Y., she lived in Springfield for 70 years, and was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in East Springfield.
Her husband, Raoul Pilon, died in 1968.
She leaves four sons, Lionel J. of Wilbraham, Coral E. of Ludlow, and Philip and Leon of Springfield; two daughters, Flora Pilon and Frieda Midura of Springfield; 21 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Thursday morning at ratell Funeral Home of Indian Orchard, and in the church, with burial at St. Aloysius Cemetery, also in Indian Orchard.
Calling hours are this afternoon and evening.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church renovation fund or any charity.
