O. BOARDMAN Sept. 28, 1928 - March 7, 2009 Dallas was a true Renaissance Man! Born and raised in Iowa, he served his country as a Marine (in China) and in the Air Force. He settled in the San Fernando Valley and was very proud to be among the first class at Valley College in Van Nuys in 1949. He also attended UCLA. Dallas was a tax accountant, and he practiced his passion for nearly 50 years. He was actively involved in several Chambers of Commerce, served as a director of the San Fernando Valley Fair since the 1970's, and was a huge supporter of the LAPD. He was involved in many nonprofit groups throughout his life. Dallas strongly felt that we cannot sit on the sidelines, but must always take responsibility for our community. Dallas was active in num erous community events and organizations, and gave generously of his time and expertise. Traveling and exploring new places was a major interest. Dallas had classic Model A Fords, and a driving trip with his 1928 Model A through Europe was a highlight of his many travels. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Roberta; his children, Bridget (Winnett), Julie (White), Wendy (Cox), and Robert Boardman; and nine remarkable grandchildren. His brothers Gene and Dale, and his sisters Iola, Ruth a nd Delores, also survive him. Memorial services will be held March 27, 2009, 11:00 a.m., at LIFEhouse (aka First Lutheran Church), 18355 Roscoe Blvd., Northridge.
