The son of Daniel Abbott & Mary (Mills) Abbott of England, late of Newe Towne [now called Newton], near Cambridge in Middlesex Co MA & Providence, Providence Co RI, Daniel married Margaret White on 25 Dec 1678 in Providence Co RI, d/o William & Elizabeth White of Newe Towne, Middlesex Co MA, late of Boston, Suffolk Co MA.

Children [known] with Margaret:
1) Mary Abbott (1679-1749); m. Thomas Fenner Jr (1684-aft 1752).
2) Deputy Governor Daniel Abbot III (1682-1760); m. Mary Fenner (1692-1759).

History of Cambridge MA:
" The site for what would become Cambridge was chosen in Dec 1630, because it was located safely up river from Boston Harbor, which made it easily defensible from attacks by enemy ships. Also, the water from the local spring was so good that the local Natives believed it had medicinal properties.
The first houses were built in the spring of 1631. The settlement was initially referred to as "the newe towne". Official MA records show the name was capitalized as "Newe Towne" by 1632."

A Timeline of Facts:
1 Oct 1665 - Robert Williams sold to Daniel Abbott Jr, a 5 acre 'houselot' "....which did in the original belong to Daniel Abbot Sr, father unto the above said Daniel Abbott and was by the said Daniel Abbott, by sale passed away unto one Robert Morris and from the said Robert Morris, it was passed unto me, the said Robert Williams". (This may have been the five parcels conveyed to Robert Morris on 20 May 1644.)

NOTES:
Daniel's sister Mary was the first wife of Thomas D Wallen/Walling. Some speculate he married Margaret White, the second wife of Thomas D Wallen/Walling, only to regain his sister's share of the family inheritance.

North Burial Ground - Wikipedia:
"The North Burial Ground is a 110-acre cemetery in Providence, Rhode Island dating to 1700, the first public cemetery in Providence. It is located north of downtown Providence, bounded by North Main Street, Branch Avenue, the Moshassuck River, and Cemetery Street. Its main entrance is at the junction of Branch and North Main. The burial ground is one of the larger municipal cemeteries in Southern New England, and it accepts 220 to 225 burials per year."

Cemeteries in Rhode Island - Wikipedia:
"From the time of its founding by Roger Williams in 1636, Rhode Island had strict separation of religious and government institutions. Therefore, Providence had no state churches with adjacent public burial grounds, as most New England towns had. Instead, townspeople buried their dead in family plots on individual farms."
