The dates for his birth and death come from his tombstone in Wading River Cemetery.
He married Aug 1749, Mary Paine (Salmon Records)
On Aug 29, 1753, Mattituck Parish Records reflect a baptism of John Owen, son of James and Mary, with the remark "at Wading River".
The Salmon Records reflect the deaths of two unnamed young sons of James Owen on Aug 23 and Aug 27, 1754. (One of them may have been the John Owen baptized above, as this biographer has found no further record for him.)
In the period approximately 30 years after their marriage, there is reported the marriage of Jacob Aldrich, Jr to Mary Owen on Nov 21, 1782. They subsequently named a son "James Owen", the name of her father. And a grandson was named "Micah O.", the name of her brother.
A James Owen appears in the 1778 Census list of Wading River, Long Island with a family of 8. The following Owens appear in the 1778 "Oath of Allegiance" to the British, showing males only and their ages:
Owen James - age 57 - born 1721 - Farmer
Owen Abijah - age 25 - born 1753 - Farmer
Owen Micah - age 17 - born 1761 - Farmer
To summarize, this leaves the following family: John (no further record), two sons died young (one may have been John), Abijah, Micah, and Mary. All were probably born in the 1750's, or even the 1760's.
