WALTHAM POLICE CAPTAIN
1/13/1908 - 4/1/1947
Watch Factory to Police Force
My father, Edward A. Cloonan, was a police lieutenant when I was born. First he worked in the Watch Factory, everybody did that then. He played on the old Waltham Jewels baseball team. The Watch Factory`s baseball teams used to play on Saturday afternoons. Well, my parents were marred in 1915 and he had been on the force for years. He was a captain when he retired. He worked with Hardigan, Connaughton, Doyle and Edmunds, Coleman, Duffy and Connelly.
When he was married he was a sergeant and he was out in the streets, mostly in the downtown area, Main and Moody Streets and so forth. They had a beat down the Bleachery and a beat down the West End and in the lower end.- Edward A. Cloonan, Jr
