Lois Margaret Archer, age 90, was called home to the Lord on June 25, 2011 in Round Rock, Texas. Lois was born to Roy and Maggie Ardrey on March 19, 1921 in Stafford County, Kansas She is predeceased by her husband Charlie Archer, her brothers Ralph, Warren, Merle, and Harold and her sister Phyllis. When Lois was 8 her family moved to Ford County, Kansas and lived for a time in Dodge City. She was baptized into Christ on January 10, 1934 in an ice covered metal cattle tank at a farm in Ford County. Times were hard during the depression and Lois had to go to work outside the home at 11 to help her family make ends meet. The Dust Bowl was another battle the family fought. She told how her mother taped sheets on all of the windows and then tucked in the children at night with wet sheets over their heads to protect them from the dust. In the morning they would wake to a thick layer of mud on the sheets. Lois graduated from high school in Stafford Kansas, attended business school, and then went to work as a housekeeper and nanny In January, 1946, she moved to Austin, Texas to work with the Christian Woman Magazine and then with the Firm Foundation publishing company. She became a member of the University Avenue church of Christ, and It was there that she met a handsome man, Charlie Archer, whom she married in1948. During her marriage, Lois and Charlie were very close to Charlie's mother, Jesse, who was crippled from polio. Lois was a loving and devoted daughter-in-law who always took care of Jesse as if she were her own mother. In 1962, the Archer family moved to north Austin and became members of the Brentwood church of Christ. Lois taught kindergarten at the 1-year old Brentwood Christian School from 1964 until 1972. She founded the Brentwood Developmental Preschool (DPS) in 1975 and served as its director until she retired in 1986. Following her career at the Brentwood DPS, she served in the the Brentwood Oaks Church's Mothers Day Out Program and as a volunteer in many capacities for Brentwood Christian School. She was an enthusiastic member of Bible Study Fellowship, taught Ladies Bible Class, and children's bible school. She was a devoted Christian all of her life, a loving wife, daughter-in-law, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. Lois was always packed and ready to go on any traveling adventure. She is survived by her daughter Charliss Cabe, daughter Cheryl Dacy, son Craig Archer, grandchildren Greg Cabe, Amanda Carter, Cory Dacy, Christopher Dacy, Craig Dacy, Kera Dacy, Amy Archer, John Alan Archer, Matthew Archer, Abbie Archer, and great grandchildren Carter Cabe, Emmy Cabe, Emily Carter, Jackson Carter, Nate Dacy, Xander Dacy, and Zoey Dacy.
