Pilot of B-24J #42-51778.
While flying with the 885th Bomb Squadron (Special) from Brindisi Airfield, Brindisi, Italy the Liberator bomber was lost October 16, 1944 from unknown cause in northern Italy while on a secret operational mission. Either crashed into a mountain or lost to flak. All nine crewmembers were killed. This mission was a secret mission with the 15th Air Force, so no details are known. Missing Air Crew Report № 9679.
