Berdie Mae (Jones)Duncan, 81, beloved daughter, aunt, mother, grandmother, died peacefully on Sat, Jan 7, 2012. She was born on Jan 12, 1930 in Bath County, KY.

She was the daughter of the late Eddie Hayes Jones and Luella Burns Jones. She was a graduate of W.E.B. Dubois High School, Mt. Sterling, KY, attended Kentucky State University, and a graduate of West Kentucky Tech College in Paducah, KY.

She was one of the first female licensed tailors in Kentucky. She was a retired Fayette County Public School worker for 27 years, and a food manager at Russell School, J.R. Ewan and Leestown Middle School. She was an active member of Golden Girls and Order of the Eastern Star. She was also an usher, choir member, deaconess, and mother of the church at East Second Street Christian Church. She confessed a faith in Christ at a young age in her grandfather's church in Bath County, The Rev. John Jones of Fairview Christian Church.

She is preceded in death by her young daughter, Toneatta Duncan, her husband, Thomas H. Duncan, Sr, sisters, Mary Ashby, Lucy Watkins, Luretta Moody, Virginia Jones, and Marce Zellar; her brothers, Clifton, Clarence, Edward, James, Eddie and Horace Jones; and one grandchild, Isaiah Chi Duncan.

She is survived by her son, Thomas H. Duncan, Jr. (Jewel), her two grandchildren, Tiffany J. Duncan, and Kristian Ellijah Thomas Duncan; her sister, Gladys Dee Redmon, one aunt, Goodlie Jones, Springfield, OH; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Funeral services will be 1pm Thu at East Second Street Christian Church with visitation at 11am until the time of the service and OES services at 12pm.

Burial will be in Evergreen Memory Gardens.

Kerr Brothers Funeral Home - Main Street is in charge of arrangements. Memorials are suggested to the Kidney Foundation of Central Kentucky, 1517 Nicholasville Rd. #203, Lexington, KY 40503.
