Pioneer Citizen Dies
Henry Pieper to Hall County in 1867.
Grand Island - Henry Pieper, 79 a resident of this vicinity for more than sixty years, died Sunday, following a paralytic stroke.
Born at Schleswig, Holstein, Germany on August 28, 1850 Mr. Pieper came to America in 1867, locating soon thereafter on a homestead, six miles southwest of Grand Island. On February 16, 1878 , he married Miss Anna Paustian, seven children being born to them. Mr. and Mrs. Pieper resided on their farm home until 1922, when they retired and moved to this city.
Surviving are his widow, three daughters, Mrs. Otto Schimmer, Mrs. F. A. Knuth. and Miss Adele Pieper, all of this city, one son Hugo Pieper, also of Grand Island; a sister Mrs. Henry Henne of Grand Island, and nine grandchildren. Funeral and burial will take place Wednesday.
