In the death of Peter Heesch, which occurred at the St. Francis hospital at 3 p.m. Friday, Hall county loses one of its oldest and best known residents. Mr. Heesch had been in failing health for the past several months from infirmities induced by old age. On Wednesday of this week he was taken to the hospital in a serious condition for treatment.

Peter Heesch was born in Haale, Holstein, Germany on October 22, 1841, being aged 82 years, 10 months and 21 days. In 1866 he immigrated to America, locating shortly thereafter in Davenport, Ia. One year later, in 1867, he came to Hall county where he has since resided. For many years Mr. Heesch was engaged in farming, but for about twenty-five years had lived a more retired life. For a number of years he has resided in this city. Though most of his time and efforts were devoted to the pursuit of agriculture, Mr. Heesch also took an active interest in politics... (omitted here is an extensive paragraph listing Mr. Heesch's other interests and activities)

In 1873 he was untied in marriage with Miss Anna Goetsch, who passed away on September 10, 1890. Eight children were born to them, two sons, John and William, and six daughters, Mrs. Ferdinand Stoltenberg, Mrs. August Kroeger, Mrs. August Peter, of Carmargo, Okla., Mrs. Henry Lucks, Mrs. George T. Baumann, and Mrs. John Baasch.

Surviving him also are two sisters, Mrs. Henry Schimmer, Sr., and Mrs Ann Meves, one brother, James, thirty-five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
