Son of Brigham Davies and Elizabeth Griffith

Married Ruth Katharine Rahl, 5 Aug 1928, Glendale, Los Angeles, California

History - Gilbert spent his youth in Lake Point, and he attended six years of school in the old stone building that still stands in Lake Point, a building that served the community as a school house during the weekdays and as a place in which church meetings were held on Sundays. How much schooling, if any, he had beyond the sixth grade is unknown.

He said, that as a young man, he used to get up at 5:00 a.m. and walk two miles to the Dunn farm. "I'd work all day", he said "And they would feed me lunch and pay me 25 cents for the day's work and then I'd walk the two miles back home, quite often after dark." Later on, he began work at the tannery which was located near the old mill in what is today Stansbury Park.

The exact date when Gib moved from Lake Point to Los Angeles, California, is unknown, but it must have been in the early 1920's. It was there that he met Ruth Rahl, and they were married on 5 August 1928. They must have had a wonderful marriage together. They remembered each other on every holiday of the year and any special event with a greeting card. In her cards, Ruth would always tell Gib how much she loved him and in his cards, he would always refer to Ruth as, "My Sweetie."

Gib's first employment in Los Angeles was with the Quaker State Oil Company, where he served as a truck driver. Health problems prevented him from serving in the military during the First World War, so, to be of service to his country, he went to work at a shipyard where they specialized in the building of the famous "Liberty" cargo ships.

After almost 26 years of marriage, Ruth passed away on 3 May 1954. Soon after her passing, Gib moved back to Lake Point.

Gib never had any children of his own but that didn't stop him from loving the little ones. He also loved the Lord and his church.

Gib passed away at the age of 102.
