Signer of South Carolina's Ordinance of Secession. On December 20th, 1860 all 169 South Carolina convention delegates voted unanimously for secession against the newly elected Republican Presidential leadership headed by President Lincoln on the matters of race, economics, and politics. They then repealed the South Carolina Constitution and its amendments, and disassociated itself from the United States of America. Alfred's parents were Hannah Walker and John Bethea. He was a physician. He was shot and killed by a deserter during the Civil War.
