Raymond Maxwell Holmes was born September 3, 1923 in Davidson County, Nashville, Tennessee to Nannie and James Samuel Holmes.

Moved to Detroit at the age of 14, and served in the United States Army in the European Theatre.

Raymond moved to Mount Clemens in 1953, where he met and married Mrs. Bette (Davis) Wright, of this marriage 2 children were born.

He joined the Vinson Chapel A.M.E. Church in 1971.

Passed away Tuesday, August 31, at Veteran's Hospital in Allen Park, Michigan.

His parents, oen sister and one brother pre-deceased him.

He leaves to mourn: his wife, 4 daughters, Wanda Holmes, Mrs. Veronica Harris, Mrs. Paula Cook, and Mrs. Aileen Counts. Two sons: Barry Holmes and Lynn Wright; also one brother, Joseph Holmes of Detroit, one Aunt, Mrs. Beete Flowers, of Detroit; also 6 grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and other realtives, and friends.
