Homer, Feb. 5 (Special). — Cecil Adkins, 54-year-old well known north Louisiana insurance man and American Legion official, died at 4:40 p.m. Wednesday at the Homer Memorial Hospital after a heart attack.
Adkins was visiting his brother, G. E. Adkins, in Athens when he became ill. He had been a resident of Homer for the past eleven years and had lived in Monroe and Arcadia prior to that time.
He was a former commander of the American Legion Post No. 73 in Homer, and active in state-wide activities of the Legion. He served as Legion vice-commander for the fifth district.
Adkins was a member of the Homer Lions Club, First Baptist Church and was a leader in many civic enterprises in Homer.
Survivors include his widow, one daughter, Mrs. J. S. Rocquemore, of Oklahoma City, Okla.; one son, James W. Adkins, of San Antonio, Texas; one brother, G. E. Adkins, of Athens; four sisters, Mrs. M. D. Harris, of Homer, Mrs. A. G. Marsalis of Shreveport, Mrs. Roger Dodson, of Amite, Mrs. D. L. Moore of Houston; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were incomplete Tuesday night.

Homer, Feb. 6 (Special). — Funeral services for Cecil Atkins, 54, a well-known insurance man, Legionnaire and businessman, will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. from the Baptist church in Homer with burial in the Arcadia Cemetery.
The Rev. Gerald W. Trussell, pastor of the First Baptist Church here, will officiate in the services and Kerlin Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
Atkins died at the Memorial Hospital Tuesday at 4 p.m. of a heart attack. He was taken ill at his brother's home in Athens and was brought here for treatment.
