Joe Butcher was an Indiana University graduate who became a Major General in the U.S. Marine Corps.
He was a 1992 inductee into the Monroe County Hall of Fame on which his plaque reads: "Honors (POST-1946) Indiana University graduate who attain great heights in the U.S. Marine Corps. Director of IU's Sesquicentennial Campaign who worked with the IU Alumni Association."
