REDDING, Calif. — William "Bill" Gossage, 88, of Hermiston died Sunday, Aug. 29, 2010, at Sierra Oaks Assisted Living home in Redding, Calif. A small private family memorial will be held at the Hermiston Cemetery.
Mr. Gossage was born Sept. 11, 1921, in Hermiston to Jess and Pearl Gossage. He was a veteran, serving in the Marine Corps during World War II.
After his discharge from the service he came back to Hermiston and went to work at the Umatilla Army Depot in the ammunitions supply department. After working in Umatilla, he transferred to an Army depot in Illinois to run their ammunitions department. He retired from this depot in 1973 and returned to Hermiston to live.
Mr. Gossage is survived by his daughter, Deanna (Gossage) Landgraf of Redding, Calif.; two grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Jess Gossage Jr. and Gary Gossage; sister Mary Gossage Craft; and wives Marnie Gossage in 1996 and Sybil Gossage in 2009.
Burns Mortuary of Hermiston will be in charge of the final arrangements.
