Aerial Gunner Killed
In Southwest Pacific Area

Relatives have been informed that Staff Sergt. Arthur O. Wezel was killed in action in the southwest Pacific on January 25. Wezel entered the service January 14, 1942 and was a gunner on a B-25 Mitchell bomber with the Rough Raiders squadron of the Army Air Forces. His wife, Mrs. Mary G. Wezel, lives at Bridgeport, and a sister, Mrs. Mary Ellen Shockency, lives at Pittsboro. The parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Wezel of Indianapolis, formerly lived on the Arnold farm northeast of Danville. The father, partially blind, has been a part-time resident of Danville recently, having a room at the home of Miss Etta McCoun. Mrs. Wezel is a semi-invalid and is being cared for in a sanitarium in Indianapolis. [Thursday, February 10, 1944 - The Republican, Danville, Indiana]

On January 15, 1920, his family was listed in the census for Adrian City, Lenawee County, Michigan as: William, head, age 45, born in Indiana, laborer at condensary; Minnie E, wife, age 44, born in Illinois; Mary Ellen, daughter, age 6, born in Ohio; and Arthur Olin, age 5, born in Michigan.

On April 4, 1930, his family was listed in the census for Center Township, Hendricks County, Indiana as: William C, age 55, retired; veteran of Spanish-American War; Minnie E, age 54; Mary E, age 17; and Arthur O, age 15. The other information was the same as the previous census.
