PIONEER WOMAN DIES
Mrs. Fannie M. Brinton Was Eighty-Four Years Old
Deputy Circuit Clerks Mother Came to this County in Covered Wagon
Mrs. Fannie McClanahan Brinton, eighty-four years old, who came to Buchanan County in a covered wagon when she was three years old and has lived in or near Agency ever since, died early this morning at the home of her son, Earl D. Brinton, deputy circuit clerk, 2629 Faraon street.
She came from Agency to spend the winter at the home of her son and had been planning to return to her home for the spring gardening.
Besides the son at whose home she died, Mrs. Brinton is survived by a brother, L. B. McClanahan, St. Joseph; and three sisters, Mrs. Lucy Barnes and Miss Mary McClanahan, St. Joseph, and Mrs. Annie Reynolds of Agency. Another brother, John H. McClanahan, former county judge, died last January.
Mrs. Brinton was born in Roanoke County, Va., and came West in a covered wagon with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James McClanahan. The family first settled at Taos, twelve miles south of St. Joseph, later moving to Agency. In February of 1878, she was married to Thomas Brinton, also of a pioneer Buchanan County family. He died June 26, 1925.
As a young girl, Mrs. Brinton joined the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, and is now a member of the Agency church.
The body is at the Stingley mortuary. Tomorrow afternoon, it will be taken to Agency where services will be at the Agency Methodist Church and interment will be at the Agency Cemetery.
