Mrs. Ellen Omholt, 68, Fort Shaw, former Great Falls resident, who died Sunday at Rochester, MN. Burial was in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Omholt and her husband Chris lived in Great Falls from 1908 to 1932,when they moved to the Fort Shaw area to farm. Besides her husband, 5 sons and a daughter survive.
Additional by Charles R. Holmes: Ellen W. Johnson married Christian Omholt in Algona on 2 Sep 1909, in the home of Mr. And Mrs. Erick Strom. Mrs. Storm, Marie Omholt), was the sister of the groom. Ellen was born 21 Jan 1896 in Chicago, the daughter of John Albert and Alma Johnson. She was the niece of Victor D. Johnson, whose
wife, Rena Omholt Johnson, was the sister of her husband, Christian Omholt.
Her son, Elmer Vernon (Sonny) Omholt, was elected to represent Teton County in the Montana State House of Representatives for two terms in 1951 and 1963. He was appointed Montana state auditor on May 21,1962 by Governor Tim Babcock. He later successfully ran for the position of State Auditor for six consecutive terms. He retired from office on Jan. 7, 1985.
